After attending Friday afternoon services at Masjid Malcolm Shabazz in Harlem, I strolled into a nearby garment store. The owner immediately recognized me from the mosque and warmly welcomed me to his shop and neighborhood. Responding to his questions about the service, I shared that it was among the most spiritual I had ever experienced and, although not a Muslim, I truly felt God’s presence in the room. A smile shined from his face as he said, “I knew you would enjoy them, because we are all brothers. We are both cut from God’s same cloth.”
